Every year the Navratri celebration started from all over India in two times Shardiya Navratri (September – October) or Basanti Navratri (March – April). What Is Navratri?

Every festival has its own story and Navratra has its own story too. The Indian festival Navratri means nine nights. The first three days are dedicated to Maa Durga (Durga goddess), the other three days are dedicated to Lakshmi Mata, and the last three days devoted to Saraswati Maa. The tenth day which we called Vijayadashami, signifies the victory over all these three perspectives of life. Navratri festival is one of the longest festivals in India and can celebrate in many different ways like Garbha, Dandiya, Ramlila, Golu, etc. During the Navratri Hindu festival, People wear beautiful and colorful clothes and can do Dandiya, Garba, and Folk Dance.

During the Durga Navratri days, the three forms of the Divine Mother have invoked Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Maa Durga is worshipped in her nine forms and the names of all Devi are Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalaratri, Mahagauri, and Durga. Nav Durga is worshipped in her nine forms to put an end to all the evils. People wake up all night and burn an Akhand Jyoti for 9 days. On these auspicious nine days of Navratri, people fast the whole day and can only break the next day in the morning. Some people fast 9 days and can only break when the kanjak puja is complete. The Navratri festival brings us joy, peace, and happiness. On these special days of Navratri, people sing Maa Durga songs and Mata ke bhajan.

Shailaputri

The first among the Navdurga is Shailaputri. The word derived in two parts Shaila+putri. Shaila symbolize stone and Putri symbolize daughter (Beti). When the mind changes, chanting the name of Shailaputri inspired the brain to be stir or committed. The Devi gives us power, courage and patience.

Brahmacharini

The second Devi is Brahmacharini which means purity and purity gives us a lot of strength. Brahma symbolise infinity or  Charya means changeability. So Brahmacharini means moving beyond the infinity. It means knowing your immense nature. You are not simply the body; you resemble a sparkle of light.

Chandraghanta

On the third day of Navratri festival, the Devi devoted as Chandraghanta. Chandra refer as moon and Ghanta means Bell. The moon is directly connected to the mind and the Ghanta symbolise alertness. Chanting the name of the Mata Chandraghanta. It brings mind in our control with increased alertness.

Kushmanda

The Fourth Devi is Kushmanda which means Pumpkin. A Pumpkin has number of seeds, and each and every seed of pumpkin contains the potential for some more pumpkins. It describes the creative power and eternal nature. Kushmanda Devi has the power can contains the entire creation inside her.  Devi  Kushmanda has the power who can give you the most creative energy.

Skandamata

Skandamata signifies the mother of Skanda (Lord Karthikeya). A Skanda word symbolises the skillful or capability. The Devi riding a lion with the child Skanda on her lap. This means fearlessness and empathy. Here the lion signifies the courage while skandamata signifies compassion. When we pray Mata Rani gives us skills, innocence, courage and compassion.
